T in the Park is one of those festivals I have wanted to do for such a long time now, I never thought it might happen.
I always get told how great my job must be and yes sometimes it is, sometimes though you do a festival and wonder why am I doing this? This years TITP was exactly one of those times.
Having travelled in my camper van for over seven hours to reach the site and travelling over 300 miles to get there I was guided into the staff car park. In order to cover a festival the kit required is rather a large amount. My kit comprises ;
Two bodies
Four lenses
Twelve spare batteries, baup up backup and some more!
Three flash guns again backup backup backup and some more!
Two grips
Eight memory cards
Laptop
Three dongles for 3G
Now this lot is heavy and I carry it all n two bags, due to the weather and mud a roller trolley isn’t really an option.
So when you discover the box office is site opposite side to the site you are parked it doesn’t make you happy. Having got to the box office I discovered the press entrance was the same as everyone else’s which was half the walk back the way I came, by the time I got to the press office I was exhausted it had to be said. Now for some reason at festivals the organisers always seem to think us photographers have more money than the punters so offer us a chip butty for the mouth watering price of £5 this got you a very small seeded bun the kind you get 8 for a pound in the supermarket and a handful of fries, well a small child’s handful of fries. Why didn’t I go into the arena? Unfortunately us press types can’t be trusted to enter the arena and can only go at 2.30 on a guided tour by one of the pa’s, seems the organisers are worried we make take photos of their mud inflicted clientelle… Well yes we would because that’s the kind of image that sells and does sell, that’s how we earn our wages. So ranting over and onto the photos.

The line up for T in the Park 2012 was actually good and I finally got to kick some bands of my bucket list. Simple Minds at a festival, Noel Gallagher, Happy Mondays and of course the Stone Roses at there first UK festival headline slot of this reunion.
